In my very-first-blog-post-everThe Journey Begins,” I said I would explain the two hashtags that I created for my Instagram to you.

For now, I wanted to start with one.

I made this hashtag for two reasons.

The first reason being the simple idea that when I decided to switch to a public Instagram and see what would happen, I was told that you should have your own signature hashtag. The reason for this is so people could use it, supposing that people follow your content and end up wanting to be “connected” with you. Or… something like that. You probably have to be way more popular than I will ever be to have that happen! However, I decided to go for it anyways!

Well, figuring out your own hashtag is hard. Especially when so many are already taken.

My hashtags started to fall into place when I started thinking about what I want out of life, which leads to the second reason I went through with creating them.

I had almost talked myself out of it, convinced myself it was silly and not necessary, but then I realized I could use it as a tool for myself. A way to remind myself of what I want out of life!

So, let’s back up a little to the beginning of this year really quick. 2018 has been such a crazy year for James and I. It’s hard to believe that we have had so many life changes just since the first of the year. We went from talking about ‘someday’ moving ‘this direction’ if we ever ‘find’ a job up here, to having the opportunity for me to apply to two different jobs up this way. I ended up applying for both and then having to go through the decision of figuring out which one would be best. Let me tell you, that was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. Weighing everything from income and hours to what I wanted out of life and what they had to offer for the future… both were promising. I ended up accepting the job with Providence, which has been amazing. I was able to go from supplemental to full time, while also moving into a ‘better’ position, in about 3 months. On top of all the work changes, and because of the work changes, we had to move. To add to this craziness, I had to stay at my Nana’s for a month since I started my new job at the beginning of February, and we weren’t able to move into our new place until March! AND we were both in school while all of this was going on.

Thankfully, it has all been so worth it.

Now, taking all of this into account and going back to the second reason I pushed through with creating the hashtag. These hashtags are to remind me of where I am at, and where I want to be. This year has changed my perspective on life so much, and I love having these reminders of what I want out of life and for my future.

Broken down, thinking about what I want for my future, I know these three things:

  1. I want to be “fit.” I want to be in shape. I don’t want to go on a hike and be too out of shape to complete it (this happened when we were camping.)  I want to live a long and healthy life. There’s so much more I could say on this topic, but I’m sure you get the picture. There will be future posts on this topic!
  2. I want to be happy! This may seem like a “Duh, Megan, so do I,” moment, but how often have you really thought about what that means? Are you happy or are you just content? Are you happy or are you just gliding through life? I want to find what makes me happy, and I want to do it. No more settling for life. We only have one so we better make the most of it!
  3. I want to be ADVENTUROUS. This is the big one. I’ve got a whole spiel coming up for you on this topic.

There’s so much more I could say on all of this, but I think this sums up my hashtag #befitbehappybeadventurous for now. Next, I’ll explain where my other hashtag comes in.

I can’t wait to lay that one out for you!

Stay tuned-
