When I’m beginning to write a new Adventure post, I often stop and take a moment to think about what the word Adventure actually means.
Generally, a few different thoughts flash through my mind. I think about travel, I think about wandering the woods, or maybe driving around “looking” for an adventure.
The actual definition of Adventure, though, is “an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity” or “to engage in a hazardous and exciting activity, especially the exploration of unknown territory.” (According to Google)
Now, our adventure’s may not be particularly “hazardous” most of the time, but they do fit into “an unusual and exciting experience or activity.”
This is why I chose to include the word Adventure in my blog: because this year I have made it my goal to live MORE life. Live it to the fullest. To find out more about this, check out my posts #BeFitBeHappyBeAdventurous and #AdventureCanMean.
For the purpose of my blog, I would say the definition of Adventure is: “a new and exciting, often out-of-your-comfort-zone, experience or activity.”
Well, when we joined the bowling league about 6 weeks ago, I would definitely say we were starting a new adventure!
We started bowling back in the spring, doing a few Monte Carlo nights here and there. They were really fun!
I am by no means any good at bowling, but James is decent and we are both getting better!
The big adventure began this fall when we committed to a bowling league and bowling every Wednesday night for the next 9 months!
Do something on a weeknight? In the winter? Are we insane?
It has actually been really awesome so far. Yes, I know we aren’t that far into it. But having something to do on a Wednesday night has been so nice! It really makes the week feel shorter because it is broken up. There are Monday and Tuesday, then bowling day, Thursday and Friday, then the weekend!
If you had told me a year ago that we would be doing this, I would have thought you were insane. A year ago we lived a completely different life, and there is no way I would have agreed to do something on a weeknight.
A year ago we spend every weeknight and most weekends curled up on our couch watching TV, holed up in our apartment. We barely ever wanted to do anything or go anywhere.
I am so glad we are changing things! It has been so fun to hang out with friends every Wednesday night and experience something new…
I am loving this new “adventurous” life!
We are so into bowling now, that we even have our own balls and shoes! I think this is something we are going to enjoy doing for a long time!
When was the last time you tried something new or out of your regular comfort zone?
Don’t live a stagnant and boring life that makes you look back and wonder what you did with the years. Be Adventurous!

Here’s my ball, it’s a swirl of dark charcoal and violet… I love it!
Here’s James’s (His is pretty cool too):
